Eighteen year old digital artist, Christian
Jehle, has had a passion for art in all its forms throughout his whole
life. Whether it’s digital art, traditional art, music or literature; he
finds art as an unending source of fascination and a way to enrich his
everyday life.In his artwork, he tries to uncover ideas and
concepts that have never been visualized, things that lay deep in the
unconscious and rest below the surface of perception. Then in
uncovering, he hopes to inspire others and show new facets of themes
whose previous investigations we take for granted. He views the computer
as not a confinement of expression, but a door to a whole new set of
perspectives, partly due to the construction processes it assumes from
the user. User and machine in harmony complement one another. In addition
to being an artist, he works for a number of Hamburg based agencies as a
print and web designer; creating posters, screen designs, cd packaging
and corporate identity. His long-term goal is to become more acquainted
with the graphic industry and possibly study graphic design. For the
time being, design remains one of his many interests as he keeps an open
mind towards the direction his life may take.

Antisocial
In this image I tried to describe the relationship between
society and individual in a semiotic way. As well the mechanisms between
them were in focus of my investigation. What would happen if one of the
two is distracted from the other? I came to the conclusion that both of
course are determined by the other. Of course the individual is part of
the society and the society consists purely of individuals. That's the
main regulation that we need to be aware of. If an individual removes
itself from the others, the society - in a way - starts dying. Of course
a big society can resist such a divergence and can eventually put
pressure on the individual to get him back (2+3).
Well to the actual image. The first step is society (circle) and
individual (edgy shape, hence his later on edgy character) linked in a
healthy and strong way. In step two and three the individual redefines
its position in his environment. A disagreement may be the cause for
that. Bonds are lost and slowly shrivel as if one had decided to
completely break the bond between social life and his or herself. What
is to be observed now is that both parties diminish which shows their
strong interplay usually going on. The individual now actively opposes
his former society by using its ideals against it. It is said that
people in exile often feel enlightened and free spirited. Like-minded
people eventually are drawn to the now much more polarizing single
individual. Sub societies are founded (new small circle). In real life
we know this as for example as Communism, Naturalism, Nazism, Anarchism
or other (in our society's eyes) abnormal political consciousness. A new
circle starts to grow which may start a new cycle. Now it is up to you
to draw conclusions. May antisocial behavior be actually the most
pro-social behavior there is? |

Cut
This was one of a series of experimentations I did with Illustrator. I
wanted to achieve certain dynamics for the image.
Cold Cut, an alternate version
of this image, has been a featured image in the DiK Semi-Permanent 2006
book. |

Nucleosynthesis
I was always fascinated by the molecular level, how things
happen in the tinyest dimensions. This is my tribute to it.

Tab
Our life is less exceeding than we think.
Life is a Tab... Wow, I'm so philosophic.
Nearly everything on this image is self made. I've
cut that man out of a release of "Death Of A Salesman" by Arthur Miller
and drew some stuff around him. Then I got some spray cans and applied
some splatter. The rest was done with Illustrator. |
